Electrochemotherapy is now in clinical use for the treatment of different cutaneous metastases and also some primary tumors. It competes with other ablative techniques, having comparable effectiveness, with some advantages over other approaches. The latest developments are in application of electrochemotherapy in head and neck tumors and liver tumors. With advent of the biological therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors, electrochemotherapy is being tested also in the combined treatment. By the induction of the immunological cell death after electrochemotherapy, it can be considered as in situ vaccination that provides benefit to immunotherapies.
