Properties of the diffuse medium in simulated galaxy clusters and their outskirts

Galaxy clusters are the largest virialized structures in the universe and represent ideal astrophysical laboratories where to observe important physical processes (e.g. feedback from Active galactic nuclei and strong galactic outflows) that shape the properties of the diffuse IntraCluster medium during the cluster accretion and evolution. I will present some recent studies of the physical properties of the IntraCluster medium obtained using a very large compilation of galaxy clusters simulated with the cosmological hydro-dynamical simulation code Gadget. In particular I will discuss last results about the chemical enrichment history and the Sunyaev-Zeldovich properties of these clusters. I will also show a preliminary work on the characterization of the low redshift intergalactic medium, focusing on the warm-hot phase of the intergalactic gas.
