Povzetek / Abstract:

Fusion is the energy source of stars. Fusion science identified the most efficient fusion reaction in the laboratory setting to be the reaction between deuterium (D) and tritium (T). The DT fusion reaction produces the highest energy yield at the "lowest" temperatures. The largest fusion power produced in magnetically confined experiments so far was at the Joint European Torus in 1997, when a peak value of 16 MW was achieved. ITER, the biggest tokamak under construction, is scheduled to start operation in 2025 and is expected to produce 500 MW for several minutes. In parallel we are developing DEMO, the European demonstration fusion power plant and doing research on stellarators.
