Istvan Laszlo: Topology and geometry of nanotube junctions

As nanotubes can be applied both as devices and interconnects as well, there is a possibility to develop carbon nanotube based electronics where truly nanoelectronic architecture can be realized. Although there are various theoretical propositions for nanotube junctions, all of them are applied for non chiral structures. After discussing the consequences of Euler theorem concerning the relations between the vertices edges and faces on nanotube junctions, we shall present two algorithms for constructing nanotube junctions between tubes of any chirality and diameter. We shall also present some of our recent results on topological coordinates of nanotube junctions.
