Can proton and neutron masses be calculated from the fundamental theory? Has confinement of quarks been proven? Why the strong interaction represents the dominant uncertainty for searching new physics, even in the case of the muon magnetic moment? Does theory predict the existence of exotic hadrons and their masses? I will address these questions within quantum field theory on the lattice. This is a non-perturbative approach based on the fundamental theory of strong interactions between quarks.
