Marco Marengon: Splitting links by integer homology spheres

We show that there exists a submanifold diffeomorphic to $S^2 \sqcup S^2$ sitting inside $S^4$, whose components are separated by an integer homology 3-sphere $Y$ (i.e., a manifold with the same integer homology of $S^3$), but not by the standard $S^3$. This is joint work with Marco Golla.
