Graph theory in chemistry: simple but not too simple?

Abstract: The study of carbon-based materials has expanded out of all recognition over the past four decades. Along the way, models based on graph theory contributed useful hints and insights . Examples from the chemistry and physics of fullerenes will be used in an attempt to justify this claim.
