Clustering in the absence of attractions

Common sense says that particles form clumps only when attractions are present. Not so if the effective interaction is bounded. Here, clusters form just with repulsions and they self-organize in crystals with unusual properties. An overview of recent work on this topic will be given, encompassing analytical calculations, simulations and suggestions for experiments to realize such phenomena.
