Fluid models incorporating elasticity as well as viscosity have important applications, namely in polymer processing and novel microfluidic devices, and possibly also in the simulation of blood flow. In this talk we discuss some general properties of such models and compare different approaches for the simulation of time-dependent flows in a simple geometry where analytical solutions are available.
