V četrtek, 9. januarja 2014, ob 14:30 bo v predavalnici 3.05 Fakultete za matematiko in fiziko Univerze v Ljubljani na Jadranski ulici 21 v Ljubljani potekalo predavanje prof. dr. Giannija Bosija (Univerza v Trstu) z naslovom Countable continuous multi-utility representations.

Povzetek predavanja: The multi-utility representation of a not necessarily total preorder may be considered, from a purely theoretical point of view, the best kind of representation since it fully characterizes the preorder by means of a family of real-valued (isotonic) functions. The main contributions in this field, which also concern the case when continuity or at least semicontinuity of the representing functions is considered, were presented by Levin (2001) and especially by Evren and Ok (2011) (see also the more recent paper by Bosi and Herden (2012)).

In this talk, we investigate conditions for the existence of a (semicontinuous or continuous) countable multi-utility representation. This is a particularly interesting situation since in this case an order preserving function automatically exists. In particular, we show that if a preorder on a second countable topological space has a continuous multi-utility representation, then there also exists a countable continuous multi-utility representation. The case of a closed preorder on a locally compact metrizable topological space is also considered.

Vljudno vabljeni!
