Astrophysical processes in galaxy clusters
Povzetek / Abstract:
Galaxy clusters -- the largest virialized structures in the universe, are important laboratories where we can study powerful astrophysical processes. The intracluster medium (ICM) -- a diffuse ionized gas that permeates the potential well of galaxy clusters, is particularly sensitive to processes such as feedback from Active galactic nuclei and to galactic outflows powered by supernovae. Using a large set of simulated galaxy clusters I will show how these processes influence the thermodynamics and the chemical enrichment history of the ICM. I will also briefly discuss some future perspectives related to galaxy cluster science with the next generation X-ray telescope Athena.
