Simulating ‘bad metals’ with computers and cold atoms on optical lattice

Povzetek / Abstract:

In many materials the resistivity is unusually high and continues to grow with increasing temperatures even at highest temperatures. Such behaviour is called bad metallic behaviour, appears in many unconventional superconductors and its understanding is one of the central challenges in condensed matter physics. The connection between the resistivity, charge susceptibility and charge diffusion allowed to study this behaviour with recent experiment using cold atoms on optical lattice. I will discuss the bad metallic behaviour, recent cold atom experiment with accompanied computer simulations, their main results and future directions.
