Quantum-like phenomena in classical optics
Povzetek / Abstract:
Several phenomena in classical optics are formally and mathematically equivalent to quantum dynamics processes between coupled discrete states. An example is the quantum process of STIRAP (Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage) that involves a counter-intuitive coupling scheme to insure complete and robust population transfer between two states. This process has a direct analogy with coupled waveguide systems that evolve in an adiabatic way and allow robust and broadband light transfer or wave splitting. In this talk I will present some of our recent studies in this context involving resonantly coupled or detuned waveguides, nonlinear optical frequency conversion, or polarization control.
