Povzetek / Abstract:

Over the last two decades, dynamical coupling from the stratosphere (10-50 km from the Earth’s surface) to the troposphere (from the surface to about 10 km) has been shown to be important for tropospheric variability on a range of timescales, and as a consequence the stratosphere is now included in many atmospheric models from global climate models to the seasonal forecasting systems.

In this seminar, I will present some of the possible routes in which the stratospheric variability can affect the troposphere and hence the weather and climate at the surface.
