Plasma-wall transition in complex plasmas

 Povzetek/Abstract:

Although about 99% of visible matter in the Universe is considered to be in plasma state, plasma is not widespread in nature on Earth. Here plasma is in most cases produced artificially by various forms of ionization and contained in various types of vessels.  Since the “boundary conditions”, i. e. transition between the plasma and the walls of the vessel affect the plasma properties, this is an area of intense research. In the talk we will present some of our contributions in this field. Bohm criterion will be presented for the simplest case, when only electrons and one species of positive ions are present in the plasma. Then some cases of plasma-wall transition in more complex plasma conditions will be discussed, like presence of additional electron population, emitted electrons and magnetic field.
