Dynamics in low-dimensional antiferromagnets
Povzetek / Abstract:
In quantum magnetism, the paradigm model is the one-dimensional S = 1/2 Heisenberg model that has no long-range order, but the spin-spin correlations are not short-ranged. Over the years, many compounds comprising weakly coupled spin chains have been discovered. Despite the apparent simplicity, they yield remarkably complex phases and non-trivial low-energy dynamics, which reflect one-dimensional physics in the presence of weak magnetic anisotropies, inter-chain couplings and geometrical frustrations. In this talk I will present our comprehensive experimental approach based on magnetic resonance and neutron scattering techniques on several model compounds where a crossover from the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid physics to the three-dimensional ordered states have been studied as a function of temperature and magnetic field.
