PhD and Postdoctoral Opportunities on Standard Candles in Göttingen, Germany

Dear Colleague,

Allow me to call your attention to two job openings in my newly established research group at the University of Göttingen in Germany. I would greatly appreciate if you could forward this message to suitable candidates.

One Postdoctoral position and one PhD position are currently advertised. Broadly speaking, both positions target stellar standard candles from an empirical perspective aiming to improve their accuracy in the Local Distance Network and the understanding of their astrophysics. As per the advertisements, the postdoctoral position would ideally focus on photometry of more distant objects, in particular in the context of the ELT imager MICADO. The PhD position aims more at Gaia DR4 and/or 4MOST. VELOCE data are also available for analysis.

As I am in the process of setting up a new team, there is some flexibility in which position gets assigned which topics. Hence, applications from suitable candidates interested in either of these objects are welcome, and ideas for research in these directions will be much appreciated.
