Computational Particle Transport theory and Achieving Solutions in Real Time
Povzetek / Abstract:
The talk will overview fundamentals of the particle transport theory and numerical methods (deterministic & Monte Carlo) for solving the linear Boltzmann Equation, and elaborates on their advantages and shortcomings. Particularly, Prof. Haghighat elaborates on his group’s (Virginia Tech Transport Theory Group-VT3G) efforts on developing techniques that yield accurate solutions for real world problems in real time.
He briefly overviews the past efforts on the development of parallel computing algorithms and codes (e.g., PENTRAN & TITAN), and the hybrid deterministic-deterministic (Sn & MOC) and Monte Carlo-deterministic formulations and codes (CADIS & A3MCNP). He introduces the novel Multi-stage, Response-function Transport (MRT) methodology, and elaborates on the RAPID’s (Real-time Analysis for Particle-transport and In-situ Detection) MTR formulations for solving eigenvalue and fixed-source problems with application to nuclear systems simulation and monitoring.
