Quantum sensors use quantum objects with quantized energy levels to measure physical quantities. By exploiting quantum coherence and entanglement, these sensors achieve sensitivities and accuracies beyond what is classically possible. At the same time, novel quantum devices are emerging that harness our ability to control, manipulate and detect individual quantum objects such as atoms, ions, photons or electrons. This presentation will introduce recent advancements in quantum sensors and devices based on atoms, including atomic magnetometers, quantum memories, quantum random number generators and technologies that use Rydberg atoms.
