Overtness in Synthetic Algebraic Geometry

Abstract: Synthetic Algebraic Geometry (SAG) is an approach to Algebraic Geometry using Homotopy Type Theory with three additional axioms as an internal language of a higher version of the Zariski-topos. The talk will give an introduction to SAG with a focus on topological reasoning, which can be done in the style of synthetic topology. In joint work in SAG with Thierry Coquand, Hugo Moeneclaey, Fabian Endres and others, a recent discovery shows that a slight modification of the concept of overtness from synthetic topology can be a powerful tool in SAG. Unmodified overtness was already studied in SAG in a discussion with Matthias Ritter, Martín Escardó and Andrej Bauer in 2024.
