Vabilo na School on Hands-On Research in Complex Systems
We invite graduate students to two-week long international School on Hands-On Research in Complex Systems, which will be held at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, 1-12 July 2013.
The attached poster lists the international sponsors of the school. The two-week-long program will provide an interactive experience with hands-on laboratory research involving tabletop experiments with real-time computer data acquisition and associated computational modeling. The hands-on experiences will focus on complex systems in the physical and life sciences. This research area is inherently interdisciplinary, and topics will range from laser chaos to spatial patterns in fluids to the dynamics of biological cells.
The school faculty will be eminent scientists who have conducted frontier table-top research published in leading scientific journals. The faculty will lecture and will lead small groups in daily sessions involving laboratory experiments and computational modeling.
The program in Trieste will be the fifth /Hands-On Research in Complex Systems/ program; past Schools were held in India (2008), Brazil (2009), Cameroon (2010), and China (2012).
Further information is given on the web site: http://www.handsonresearch.org
The Hands-On program is intended for advanced graduate students and young faculty in science and engineering.
There is no registration fee. Moreover, participants under 46 years of age who are nationals of and working in a developing country, will be considered, upon request, for subsistence support and for travel support up to one-half the cost of international airfare. Applications should be made on the web site http://agenda.ictp.it/smr.php?2471 before the 1 February 2013 deadline.
