Quantum quenches and universal non-equilibrium work statistics

Abstract:
In this talk, I will focus on discussing the energy distribution of excitations generated in a many-body system subject to a time dependent change of one of its parameters. Using various connections with boundary statistical mechanics, I will show that they are generically characterized by low energy power-law edge singularities, whose exponents are frequently universal and independent on the specifics of the time-dependent protocol.
