Title: Rational curves on elliptic fiber spaces.

Abstract: Let X be an elliptic fiber space, with relatively trivial canonical bundle and finite fundamental group. We show that X must then always contain a (possibly singular) rational curve. As an application, we study the existence of rational curves on n-dimenisonal Calabi-Yau manifolds endowed with a fiber space structure of relative dimension respectively 1 and n-1. A numerical sufficient criterion will be discussed, too. This is a joint work with D. Martinelli and C. Fontanari.
