Nino Bašić: The number of Kekulé structures in hexagonal-shaped benzenoids

Abstract: An explicit combinatorial formula for the number of Kekulé structures in hexagonal-shaped benzenoids will be presented. It was obtained by Cyvin in 1986. A formal proof was provided only 2 years later by Gutman et al. This proof is based on the theorem, which we learned the last week.

If time permits, we will also present a similar formula for the regular pseudo-convex benzenoids.
