[PhD Cakes] Spring gathering 18. 04. 2018, Speaker: Mateja Hrast
Dear fellow PhD students,
we would like to remind you, that we shall meet tomorrow, 18 April 2018 at 15:30 in Maφja to celebrate spring. You are still invited to contribute something sweet (sign up here: link). With a free beverage in hand we will listen to an interesting talk given by our next speaker:
Mateja Hrast: Post-excitation processes in chlorinated molecules
Abstract: Chlorine-containing molecules are widely used in different sectors of industry. Their use does not appear to be declining, even though most of these compounds are highly poisonous and they largely contribute to global warming. Consequently, studying the impact of these molecules on the atmosphere is of great importance in the environmental science, which also triggered new research of their electronic structure and light-induced phenomena.
I will present the variety of phenomena which can be observed after a photo-excitation of a molecule and how we approach to their theoretical treatment. The focus of my research (and this talk) is the competition between molecular Auger decay and dissociation and its impact on the observed spectra. I will also present the results of our recent study of ultrafast dissociation in chloromethanes.
With best regards,
Philipp & Anja
