Michiya Mori: Isometries between projection lattices of von Neumann algebras

 Abstract:

 
Since Wigner's unitary-antiunitary theorem, there have been many studies 
on isometries between collections of (orthogonal) projections in B(H). 
Recently, Geher and Semrl gave a complete description of surjective 
isometries (with respect to the operator norm) from the collection of 
all projections in B(H) onto itself. 
In this talk, we consider a further generalization of this result. 
Namely, we give a characterization of surjective isometries between 
projection lattices of two von Neumann algebras.
