Povzetek / Abstract:

COVID-19 pandemic has posed great threat to global health, and physics can help in multiple ways. One of the particular areas of medical physics expertise is advanced analytics of medical images (e.g., CT, X-rays) that can provide actionable insights in guide crucial hospitalization and treatment decisions in patients with COVID-19.

A hybrid AI model targeted at separating patients to mild, moderate or severe based on a public set of nearly 1700 CT images will be presented along with a predictive model of mortality based on lung CT density histograms, developed on a large cohort of northern Italy COVID-19 patients. Both studies show discriminating AUC above 0.8, improvable with select clinical variables.
