Postdoctoral position in observational galaxy evolution at the University of Edinburgh
Dear colleagues,
I would like to advertise the opening for a 2-year postdoctoral position (with good prospects for extension beyond this) at the Institute for Astronomy, University of Edinburgh that is particularly relevant to the 4MOST community.
The primary research goal of this position is to advance our understanding of galaxy evolution, particularly the life cycle of gas in galaxies, through the combination of next-generation optical spectroscopy and radio HI surveys. In particular, the early scientific exploitation of the 4MOST ORCHIDSS Community Survey (part of S7/WAVES).
The researcher will also have the opportunity to develop their own research projects with access to a wide range of multi-wavelength observations such as the WEAVE-LOFAR spectroscopic survey, the JWST PRIMER/JELS imaging surveys and associated spectroscopic follow-up campaigns (including MUSE), and the MIGHTEE and LOFAR (2.0) extragalactic radio surveys. Applicants with experience of working with large multi-wavelength datasets, in particular multi-object spectroscopy or HI radio observations are particularly encouraged to apply.
The deadline for applications is January 26th 2024 with a flexible starting date (but ideally before October 2024). Please see the AAS Jobregister ad and the University of Edinburgh recruitment portal and links within for additional information.
Interested candidates can also contact me directly with inquiries.
