This programme is designed for Bachelors in Mathematics (academic) wishing to take active part in planning, engineering and development in professional environments, or engage in scientific research in mathematics, theoretical computer science or theoretical mechanics.

This is a 2-year programme (4 semesters) with 120 ECTS credits

Graduates obtain the title magister matematike/magistrica matematike, abbreviated to mag. mat.

Curriculum

Year 1: Eight mathematics electives, two general electives

Year 2: Two mathematics electives, four general electives, Mathematical seminar, Master's thesis and final exam

Mathematics electives are chosen from the following groups: Analysis and mechanics (M1), Algebra and discrete mathematics (M2), Geometry and topology (M3), Numerical mathematics (M4), Probability, statistics and financial mathematics (M5), Computer science and mathematics (R1), General (O). Students must either pass Measure theory or Introduction to functional analysis.

Percentage of electives in the programme is 76.7% (92 credits), of those at least 50% (60 credits) from mathematics electives and up to 26.7% (32 credits) from general electives.

A student has to select at least 60 credits every year.

Admission requirements »

Admission to the study programme is open to either: a) Graduates of the Academic study programme in Mathematics.

Enrolment, re-enrolment and graduation requirements »

Enrolment in Year 1 is granted upon admission. For enrolment in the second study year it is necessary to earn 50 ECTS credits from courses and exams in the current first study year.

Validation of competences, knowledge, and skills acquired prior to admission to the study program »

Students may apply for validation of competences acquired previously by means of various forms of education if their competences match those of one or more courses offered within this study programme.

Transferring from other study programmes

It is possible to transfer from other study programmes. The appropriate year of study as well as other transfer requirements are determined on the basis of the programme the student is transferring from. The exact conditions for finishing the programme are determined by the department study committee.
