Using Astrophotometric Data for Analysis of Binary Star Population Parameters

Most stars in the universe are found in binary (or higher-order multiple star) systems, making the understanding of binary population parameters crucial for progress in many fields of astronomy. However, traditional observational methods for studying these systems are time-consuming and limited by the selection effects, often leading to incomplete datasets. In this talk, I will introduce a new method that aims to address these limitations. By comparing color - absolute magnitude diagrams from observational data with those of a model galaxy, this approach leverages extensive astrophotometric databases such as Gaia and 2MASS to uncover the binary star population parameters with greater accuracy and completeness.
