Onsager integrable systems have been known since 1946 when Lars Onsager proved the 2D Ising model to be integrable by diagonalising the Hamiltonian using his algebra. The main feature of such integrable models is not just that the Hamiltonian constructed using the abstract Onsager algebra generators will always be integrable but also that the construction can be done in any dimension. This talk will discuss algebraic aspects, examples, new features, as well as the relation between Onsager and Yang-Baxter integrability. Moreover, the whole setup will be reformulated in the language of Riemannian geometry.
