Discrete mathematics is one of the more modern mathematical fields, dealing with a wide variety of structures based on sets and the relations among them. Such structure include graphs (networks), combinatorial designs, finite geometries, and the like. An important part of discrete mathematics is also enumerative combinatorics, which explores different ways of counting combinatorial objects.
The research topics we deal with in the Department of Mathematics include:
- graph theory,
- enumeration and algebraic combinatorics,
- computational and algorithmic aspects of discrete structures,
- symmetry properties of combinatorial objects,
- combinatorial and geometric configurations.
