Research activity: Natural sciences and mathematics

Project description:

In this project, we will investigate active solids composed of suspensions of colloidal particles in complex fluids. The properties of complex fluids, such as viscoelasticity, nonlinear viscosity, and orientational order, enable motion and controlled dynamics of colloidal structures — from individual particles to complex aggregates. We will develop propulsion principles for individual particles through actuation by external fields and study the influence of actuation on the aggregation of desired structures, as well as on the dynamic modes of motion and interaction of these structures with their environment.
