Project description:

This preparatory grant will allow Dr. Soloviev to carry out foundational research in kinetic theory and relativistic hydrodynamics, strengthening the scientific basis for his ERC proposal. UNLOCK aims to extend the applicability of kinetic theory, which traditionally describes systems of point-like particles, towards a framework that includes extended objects, such as strings and vortices, and more dense systems. This novel approach is expected to shed light on transport phenomena and phase transitions in strongly interacting systems, such as in the quark–gluon plasma formed in the wake of high energy collisions. In addition to conducting preparatory research, Dr. Soloviev will participate in specialized grant writing and training activities organized by the University of Ljubljana, ensuring a competitive and high-quality submission to the ERC.
