Project description:

Rapid climate changes caused by human activities have already and will continue to cause numerous negative impacts. The vulnerability of ecosystems and humans depends on many factors, primarily on the exposure to climate changes at the regional, and especially local level, and their sensitivity to them. The resulting changes in oceans, soil, water resource availability, etc., combined with the adaptability of species in individual ecosystems, will lead to various consequences in the economy and society. Due to their dynamics and extensive impact, climate changes require both active efforts to prevent further global temperature increases and simultaneous investments in strengthening the resilience of existing (eco)systems and developing technologies that enable new climate-resilient solutions.

The goal of the interdisciplinary project “Climate-Resilient Technologies for High-Tech Bioeconomy and Green Transition” is multifaceted and addresses all the mentioned segments. With technologically advanced projections of microclimate changes and impacts on natural resources in Slovenia, we will determine the vulnerability of the bioeconomy and its significance for value chains, other sectors, and the entire economy and labor market.
