announces a scholarship opportunity for Undergraduate/First Degree Students in Science and Technology Research

On behalf of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for Undergraduate/First Degree Students in Science and Technology Research.

The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is being built in Saudi Arabia as an international, graduate-level research university.  KAUST has a merit-based application process and is recruiting men and women from around the world.

KAUST will grant the KAUST Discovery Scholarship to highly talented students with one to three years remaining of their  first-level or bachelor’s degree programs at public and private universities to enter KAUST as graduate-level students in Fall 2009, 2010, and 2011.  Priority will be given to students studying in the fields of bioengineering, bioscience, chemical engineering, earth science and marine science.

Scholarship benefits include: i) full tuition coverage to complete their current degree, ii) monthly living stipend, iii) textbook and computer allowance, and iv) travel costs for participation in KAUST-sponsored science, technology and leadership activities in Saudi Arabia and regionally. Upon the completion of the bachelors or first degree program, students will receive: i) Admission into a master's degree program upon meeting the program's admission requirements at the KAUST campus in Saudi Arabia, ii) full scholarship at KAUST, including tuition, housing and travel costs.

Applications are currently being accepted. Deadlines: January 16, 2009 (early decision), March 19, 2009 (regular decision).
