Abstract: In recent years, there has been a growing appreciation thatcategories associated with functional analysis (e.g., those of Hilbertspaces and Banach spaces) are actually quite unlike those arising intopology, algebra, or even topological algebra. In this talk, I willdiscuss some of the formalisms (e.g., dagger categories and involutivemonoidal categories) which have arisen in the categorical analysis ofAnalysis.
