Some typical questions in finite geometry are considered in the talk. In most cases the questions are purely combinatorial, but the best results are obtained if some algebra is used or methods from combinatorics, algebra and geometry are combined. To be more concrete, these phenomena will be illustrated by results on arcs and blocking sets.
