In order to use galaxy clusters as tracers of cosmic evolution, one of the most important issues is to correctly estimate their masses. Intracluster medium properties such as X-ray luminosity, X-ray
temperature and integrated Sunyaev-Zeldovich flux can be used to infer cluster total mass, although physical processes acting on the intracluster medium affect the calibration of the scaling relations between observables and total mass. Cosmological hydrodynamical simulations are therefore used to disentangle the effect of different physical processes acting in galaxy clusters.
I will discuss some recent results about the intracluster medium properties and the theoretical scaling relations obtained from one of
the largest sets of detailed hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters, where different physical processes have been taken into account.
