In supersymmetric SU(5) an extra Z2 discrete symmetry called R-parity is often assumed to forbid a too fast proton decay rate. The minimal renormalizable model has then two problems: a massless neutrino and a quantitative wrong charged lepton versus down quark mass ratios. In the seminar I will show that a controlled violation of R-parity can solve both problems being still in accord with the experimental bound on nucleon lifetime. Such a model has also interesting and unusual low energy phenomenology.
