Na tokratni poizpitni Astrodebati bomo s pomočjo prof. Carla Sagana razkrivali skrivnosti vesolja s pregledom udarcev kometov in asteroidov na planete v našem Sončevem sistemu ter tovrstnih dogodkov, ki jih poznamo tudi iz bolj in manj davne Zemljine zgodovine. Vabljeni v sredo, 16. marca 2016, ob 16. uri v predavalnico F3 na Fakulteti za matematiko in fiziko, Jadranska 19, Ljubljana.
Cosmos: Heaven and Hell
Abstract:
We first discuss comets and asteroids as planetary impactors, giving recent examples of the Tunguska event and a lunar impact described by Canterbury monks in 1178. We then move to a description of the environment of Venus, from the previous fantastic theories of people such as Immanuel Velikovsky to the information gained by the Venera landers and its implications for Earth's greenhouse effect. The Cosmos Update highlights the connection to global warming.
