Black carbon and aerosol absorption – local air pollution and climate change
Povzetek / Abstract:
Black carbon is the part of soot we see – it absorbs light. It is a primary pollutant, and the measured parameter is emitted by the sources. It is also a good tracer of incomplete combustion and is very useful in source apportionment. Emissions generated for energy production are always local, but their effects span over local, regional and global scale.
I will compare methods to measure black carbon and aerosol absorption. Examples on the local, regional and global scale will be used to show which sources pollute; how we measure the efficiency of air quality abatement measures; how these fit into the reduction of climate change; and what we can learn from the past successes.
