Povzetek / Abstract:

Today we have irrefutable evidence that to learn anything people need to be active participants in the learning process, not passive observers.  How does this idea affect the experimental aspect of teaching and learning physics? In my talk, I will describe how changes in my own views about the role of physics experiments helped me to see new features of the experiments and improve my own teaching. I will also show how modern devices, such as light emitting diodes, can be used in active learning units that allow students to learn underlying basic principles, deepen the previously acquired knowledge and practice thinking like scientists.
