How do scale interactions limit the usefulness of weather forecasts?
A PhD position addressing this question is available in the Atmospheric
Dynamics group (former Theoretical meteorology) at the University of
Hamburg. The deadline for application is 30 November.
The candidate will work with Prof. Nedjeljka Žagar and members of her group on atmospheric predictability using theory and numerical models of different complexity. Candidates are invited to also expose their own interests in numerical modelling of atmospheric flows.
Prospective candidates should hold a university degree in physics or
mathematics, preferably with specialization in atmosphere or ocean
sciences, good programming skills, and interest in geophysical fluid
dynamics and numerical modelling. The position includes 2-hour per week
teaching opportunities.
