At Bias Variance Labs, we're at the forefront of applying AI solutions to solve the most complex challenges in space research and technology, from optimizing satellite operations to ensuring long and efficient space missions, to developing novel approaches for Earth Observation. As such have long standing and continuous collaborations with the European Space Agency (ESA), contributing directly to projects at the heart of European space missions.
We're seeking a talented AI Engineer to join our team and work on designing and developing novel AI approaches that support ESA’s spacecraft operation efforts.
What You'll Do
- Design, train, and validate state-of-the-art models for a range of space-related challenges (incl. Spacecraft operations, Earth Observation), with a focus on deep learning.
- Apply vision models to analyze satellite imagery for Earth Observation and spacecraft monitoring.
- Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) for tasks such as analyzing mission logs or generating operational insights, and use graph-based analysis to understand complex system interactions.
- Work closely with our AI scientists and ESA engineers to understand mission requirements, develop effective solutions, and seamlessly transition your models from research to operational use.
What You'll Bring
- MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or a BSc degree with equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with ML frameworks (eg. PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Experience in developing and applying deep learning models to real-world problems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-stakes environment.
Nice to have: * Familiarity with the architecture and application of LLMs and experience with graph neural networks (GNNs) or graph analytics. * Experience with using remote sensing data in downstream applications. * Experience with analysis of time-series data. * Contributions to open-source projects. * A genuine passion for space research/tech and its challenges.
What You'll Get
