At Bias Variance Labs (www.bvlabs.ai), we're at the forefront of applying AI solutions to solve the most complex challenges in space research and technology, from optimizing satellite operations to ensuring long and efficient space missions, to developing novel approaches for Earth Observation. As such have long standing and continuous collaborations with the European Space Agency (ESA), contributing directly to projects at the heart of European space missions.

We're seeking a talented MLOps/DevOps Engineer to join our team in Ljubljana and work on designing and developing novel AI approaches that support ESA’s spacecraft operation efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying machine learning models and applications on ESA Space Operations’ infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with our AI scientists and ESA engineers to seamlessly transition ML models from development to production.
  • Implement and oversee robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to guarantee system health and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the entire technology stack, from infrastructure to application-level.

What You'll Bring

  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in an MLOps/DevOps role.
    Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with ML frameworks (eg. PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Solid experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Proven ability to build and manage ML CI/CD pipelines (Kubeflow)
  • A solid understanding of microservices architectures and DevOps/MLOps best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-stakes environment

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience working on projects for ESA or in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of space mission operations or ground segment systems.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • A genuine passion for space research/tech and its challenges.
